Recently China strongly denounced the passage of the U.S. Coast Guard ship through the Taiwan Straits that happened immediately after the U.S. Secretary of State Blinken wrapped up his visit to China.

A spokesperson for the Chinese Coast Guard issued a press statement, criticizing the U.S. for openly manipulating the public opinion on the U.S. Coast Guard ship’s passage through the Taiwan Straits, and vowed to resolutely safeguard China’s national sovereignty, security and maritime rights and interests.

The Global Times carried the following article, citing opinions of experts at home.

The U.S. Coast Guard cutter’s transit through the Taiwan Straits came just after Blinken’s departure from Beijing. It clearly indicates that the U.S. continues to stubbornly pursue its position of containing China with the Taiwan question.

The function of the U.S. Coast Guard is to maintain the security of the U.S. coastline. However, it has deployed more forces to the Asia-Pacific region, especially in the Western Pacific region in recent years with an intention to contain China.

This incident is a very dangerous action in disrespect for the China’s sovereignty and security interests, exposing once again the duplicity of U.S. diplomacy toward China.

At the end, the Global Times warned that if the U.S. continues to play with fire on the Taiwan question, it will lead to a further setback in China-U.S. relations, and the responsibility would undoubtedly be on the U.S. side.
