A significant event for the residents of the Vologda region, and beyond, took place on the 145th anniversary of the birth of Joseph Vissarionovich Stalin. A monument to the prominent statesman of the Soviet Union was unveiled at the “Vologda Exile” Museum in the regional capital, where Stalin resided between 1911 and 1912.
The initiative to erect the monument was spearheaded by the Vologda Regional Branch of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (KPRF), led by its head and regional legislative assembly deputy, Alexander Morozov.
At the unveiling ceremony, the Governor of the Vologda region, Georgy Filimonov, delivered a speech emphasizing that the history of the state is monolithic and that no fragments should be erased to serve momentary interests. Alexander Morozov highlighted the immense role of Generalissimo Stalin in the establishment of the Soviet state and its victory in the Great Patriotic War, while also expressing heartfelt gratitude to the regional governor for supporting the Communist Party’s initiative.
Notably, on the same day, the 22nd Reporting and Election Conference of the Vologda Regional Branch of the KPRF took place. All the delegates attended the monument’s unveiling as a united group.
