This exhaustive introduction to the theory of dialectical materialism by Maurice Cornforth, composing three volumes (Materialism and the Dialectical Method, Historical Materialism and The Theory of Knowledge) expounds many key points of the philosophy of Marxism-Leninism, of the working class the whole world over. It proves that the Marxist world outlook sees phenomena as they are in objective conditions and in their interconnection/self-motion, i.e. how they change. It proves that the Marxist world outlook has a constructive theory of all hitherto history, and explains that the road paved to today was not a mere accident but the result of the establishment and overthrow of modes of production. It proves that the Marxist world outlook studies the development of consciousness in the individual and society scientifically, and how it is determined in the final sense by the material basis of society. It can be said that Cornforth’s book is one of the best on dialectical materialism.
