DPRK: Two Articles Against Soviet Revisionism

Description

The two articles, Let Us Defend the Socialist Camp! and Hold High the Revolutionary Banner of National Liberation, appeared in 1963 and 1964 respectively, polemicizing against the machinations of the Khrushchevite modern revisionists in power in the Soviet Union. While both are aimed against the Soviets, the situation prevented them from mentioning them as at fault directly; however, anyone familiar with the international situation will know who is meant by “modern revisionists.” The first defends the countries which were arbitrarily removed from the socialist camp by Soviet dictate, namely Albania and China. It blames the Soviets for unequal relations, imposing economic and social conditions on fraternal countries for their own interests, and violating the Declarations of the Meetings of Communist and Workers’ Parties. It also defends the historical experience of Stalin against the slanders that his period was a “dark period,” etc. The second defends the role of the national liberation movement in the international communist movement, again against the dictate of the Soviets. They aspired to impose their line of collaboration with imperialism under the signboard of “peaceful co-existence,” putting a damper on anti-colonial revolutionary uprisings under the pretext that it would inflame the danger of nuclear war. Boasting of their role in the international arena to ensure peace, they ended up denying the independence of the imperialized masses, who were said to be freed post-World War II due to the end of the old colonialism, the establishment of the UN, etc. Both of these revisionist errors had grave effects on the international communist movement, which is still reeling from the losses today. It should be on the record that the DPRK defended Marxism-Leninism and the revolution, doing what it could to prevent the travesty that befell.
